I live in Swift Current where I started out as an on the job trained Pharmacy Assistant in 2003. In 2004 I challenged the PTCB-AB exam and became certified. in 2007 I moved to Cypress Regional Hospital, where I currently work. I started taking the bridging programs in 2012, taking 3 out of the 4 courses through Red Deer College. I took the last bridging course through Selkirk College and I completed the Qualifying Exam in September 2013.

I am a Pharmacy Assistant currently employed by Shoppers Drug Mart in Saskatoon, SK. I have been a part of the Shoppers Drug Mart team for thirteen years, serving ten of those years within the pharmacy. I continue to be a proud member of the Pharmacy Technician Society of Saskatchewan (PTSSK), serving as secretary and membership coordinator for the past two years. My professional interests lie in technician regulation within Saskatchewan as well as serving the community.

I've been a Pharmacy Assistant for 15 years and currently work for Shoppers Drug Mart in Regina, doing mostly relief work at various locations. I am also a graduate student in Sociology studying Indigenous social movements and the media, which occupies most of my time at the moment. I live with my boyfriend, 2 dogs and 3 cats. I've been with PTSSk for just over a year now. I am passionate about animal welfare, vegetarianism, social justice issues, and of course, pharmacy.

Cathy Dawes - Past President
I have worked as a Pharmacy Assistant in Saskatchewan for 17 years. My career started at Superstore Regina in February of 1998 and I was trained on the job there. Moved to Walmart South Regina in Jan 2001 until July 2012 when I accepted a position at Pharmasave Gardiner Park in Regina where I am today. I passed the Alberta Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exams in Nov 2002 to become certified as a pharmacy technician. From April - Sept of 2009 I was a member of the Pharm Tech Registration Advisory Working Group at SCP. Our task was to write new legislation, amend bylaws and draft a technician’s code of ethics for the proposed pharmacy technician regulation scope of practice to be presented to the Minister of Health. I was a committee member of CAPT Sk from 2006 to 2008 and then was president of CAPT Saskatchewan from 2008 to 2012. I have been privileged to be president of PTSSK since it’s inception in May of 2012. This is my last year as a pharmacy technician in Saskatchewan as I will be retiring shortly to move to B.C. in the summer.
